NATIONAL GAMES LIVE Streaming – Day 2 National Games LIVE: The DAY 2 LIVE Action in National Games has started. Top badminton & squash stars will be in action today the respective events unfolds. Earlier on DAY 1, Indian athletes Weighlifter Mirabai Chanu, Shooter Elavenil Valarivan and Fencer Bhavani Devi lived up to their expectations. Munita Prajapati of Uttar Pradesh, set the first record of this edition as she created the new Games record in the Women’s 20km walk, by clocking a commendable 1 hour 38 minutes 20 seconds. In the Men’s 1500 m, 17-year old Parvej Khan rewrote a 28-year old record as he clocked an impressive 3:40.89 to clinch the gold medal.
2018 Asian Games decathlon champion Swapna Barman, competing for Madhya Pradesh colours claimed the women’s High Jump record with a clearance of 1.83m while Praveen Chithravel (Tamil Nadu) won gold in Triple Jump with a Games record effort of 16.68m. In the men’s 100m semifinals, Amlan Borgohain (Assam) broke the National Games record by clocking, 10.28 seconds. Other record breakers include Punjab’s Damneet Singh in the Men’s Hammer Throw, Uttar Pradesh’s Kiran Baliyan in Shot Put.

As expected, Olympics weightlifting silver medallist Mirabai Chanu has won the gold medal in the Women’s 49 kg category. She lifted a total of 191 kgs to finish on the top of the podium. Her statemate Sanjita Chanu lifted a total of 187 kgs to win the silver medal, while Sneha Soren from Odisha won the bronze medal with a total lift of 169 kgs.
In the previous edition of the National Games that took place back in 2015 in Kerala, Services (91 gold, 33 silver and 35 bronze) finished at the top position with 159 medals and were followed by hosts Kerala and Haryana.
Earlier on Thursday, after a gap of six years the 36th edition of the sporting extravaganza was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a glittering opening ceremony.
