RCB Player Ratings vs GT: Virat Kohli gets 1/10, Jitesh Sharma & Livingstone performers in 8-wicket loss

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had a dream start to their IPL 2025 campaign, winning away games against KKR and CSK. On Wednesday, they had their maiden home game against a decent-looking Gujarat Titans (GT) side. And RCB faltered in front of their home crowd, losing the clash with a comfortable margin of 8 wickets. Ex-RCBian Mohammed Siraj bit back his old team as he claimed a three-fer to rock the hosts. In the run-chase, Sai Sudharsan started well before Jos Buttler pummeled a stupendous fifty to see GT through.

RCB Players’ Ratings vs GT, IPL 2025

Virat Kohli 1/10: Prior to this game, Virat Kohli averaged a humongous 114.7 against GT. However, the low score that was due against GT came in this match. He started with a traditional cover drive to Siraj but then got holed out off youngster Arshad Khan’s bowling. Kohli timed the ball perfectly but was unfortunate to find the fielder.

Phil Salt 4/10: Phil Salt smoked the biggest six of IPL 2025. But then on the very next ball, Siraj castled him with a cross-seam delivery. With the ball moving around, Salt wasn’t able to do much. He tried to hoick while putting aside his left leg, but that was it. He made 14 off 13.

Devdutt Padikkal 1/10: Padikkal looked superb in the last game vs CSK. But now, the inconsistency prevailed again. The southpaw started his innings with a four but was then castled by Siraj. It was a premeditated shot by Padikkal.

Rajat Patidar 3/10: The RCB skipper made 12 off 12. 8 of those runs came off the two boundaries he scored. Otherwise, Patidar wasn’t clean on the eyes and got trapped by Ishant Sharma just after the powerplay.

Liam Livingstone 8.5/10: Livingstone’s innings was an episode of two halves. In his initial batting, the Englishman looked all at sea. He got a reprieve when Rahul Tewatia spilled a chance at long-on. In fact, Livingstone was at 35 after playing 34 balls at one point. But then came a thrashing, that too, against Rashid Khan as he smoked 19 runs in his next six balls, including his dismissal as well. Nonetheless, Livingstone’s fifty was absolutely crucial for RCB.

Jitesh Sharma 7.5/10: RCB were in a tight spot after losing skipper Rajat Patidar early on, but Jitesh Sharma walked in and turned the game around. The specialist finisher made the most of overs 7-11, smashing fours and sixes, including some impressive shots against the spinners. However, his spark was short-lived as Sai Kishore outsmarted him with a clever delivery in the 13th over, dismissing him and halting RCB’s momentum. He made 33 off 21.

Tim David 9.5/10: Not often has Tim David played as a number 8. But there he did and the Australian pulled off for what he is known for. For his first 10 deliveries, David faced high-quality spin and fascinatingly mustered 14 runs off them. Off the last over, David hammered 14 runs to single-handedly take RCB to a respectable 169/8.

Krunal Pandya 3/10: Krunal Pandya was outdone by a fellow left-arm spinner. Sai Kishore bowled a superb carrom-ball-like delivery to outsmart Krunal and got him out at 5 off 5. With the ball, the RCB all-rounder didn’t find much success as well, going wicketless in 3 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood 7.5/10: Defending a modest 170 at Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB needed their new-ball duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood to fire. But that couldn’t happen. Bhuvneshwar did take the wicket of Shubman Gill but that came in 5th over. Hazlewood also took Sudharsan but it also happened in the 13th over. By that time, the result was just a formality it seems.
