DRS, August 13: Jaiswal out-Bumrah in for Asia Cup, Parag vs Samson & RCB lose home ground for IPL 2026
Jasprit Bumrah will be part of India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2025. Yashasvi Jaiswal won’t be. Rohit Sharma has started training. Ayush Mhatre has been picked as Mumbai captain over Sarfaraz Khan. There might be a fight for captaincy between Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) might need a new home ground.

Bumrah will play Asia Cup
Jasprit Bumrah will be participating in the Asia Cup. The BCCI has decided to bring their ace pacer back into white-ball cricket after more than 14 months. Bumrah last played a T20I on June 29 last year, i.e., the final of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Fight for RR captaincy
According to former Chennai Super Kings batter S Badrinath, Riyan Parag is the reason behind Sanju Samson reportedly leaving the Rajasthan Royals. He thinks that there is a captaincy tussle between Parag and Samson. The whole situation came about when Samson had to miss a few matches last season, and Parag was the interim RR captain.

No Jaiswal in India’s squad
Yashasvi Jaiswal in all likelihood won’t be part of India’s squad for the Asia Cup. The selectors would love to play Jaiswal but his selection would mean that one of Abhishek Sharma and Samson will have to miss out. Since they have performed so well, the selectors aren’t thinking about making any changes.

RCB’s new home ground
M Chinnaswamy Stadium won’t host the second semifinal of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. The Karnataka government has deemed the stadium unsafe for mass gatherings. This also casts a shadow of doubt over RCB playing their home matches at the venue in IPL 2026.

Rohit Sharma’s ODI training
Rohit Sharma has put the retirement rumours to bed. The Indian ODI captain has started training after a long break. Rohit shared the update that he’s working with former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. Both have worked together for some time now and reunited after Rohit returned from London.

Mhatre pips Sarfaraz Khan
Ayush Mhatre has been named Mumbai’s captain for the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament. The day-and-night 90-over tournament will commence on August 17. Surprisingly, Mhatre has been named captain over Sarfaraz Khan and Musheer Khan. Mhatre has just returned from India’s Under-19 tour of England.
