Pakistan have also announced their squad with some major exclusions. Yash Dayal has been banned from UPT20. And will MS Dhoni be India’s head coach in the future?

Shreyas Iyer & Jitesh Sharma back

Shreyas Iyer’s likely to make a comeback into India’s T20I team at the Asia Cup. He will replace one of Rinku Singh or Shivam Dube in the middle order. Jitesh Sharma will be preferred over Dhruv Jurel, being the backup wicketkeeper to Sanju Samson.

Prasidh Krishna to replace Bumrah?

Uncertainty over Jasprit Bumrah continues. There’s no clarity whether the pacer would be included in India’s squad for the Asia Cup. Amid workload management concerns, it might happen that Bumrah doesn’t play. If he doesn’t, Prasidh Krishna will likely be his replacement.

India’s Asia Cup plans

Team India will fly early to the UAE for the Asia Cup instead of holding a camp in India. The Men in Blue haven’t played a T20I since February 2, and even the IPL 2025, which all national players participate in, ended on June 3. But the management has decided to acclimatise in Dubai rather than practice in India.

Coaching next for MS Dhoni?

Will MS Dhoni ever become India’s head coach? According to his former teammate, Aakash Chopra, no. He thinks that Dhoni won’t be interested in travelling for 10 months a year with the team. Many former cricketers don’t like to coach national teams due to commitments and stick to franchise cricket.

No UPT20 for Yash Dayal

Yash Dayal has been barred by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association from playing in the UPT20. The decision was taken after Dayal was accused of sexual assault by two different women, including a minor. The left-arm pacer was bought by the Gorakhpur Lions for INR 7 lakh.
