DRS, Sept 6: BCCI tackles match-fixing, Dhoni backed CSK players & Yuvraj Singh backstabbed by Kohli?

Team India have started preparing for the Asia Cup. MS Dhoni has been backed and criticised amid the Irfan Pathan controversy. Virat Kohli’s fitness test could change things for other Indian cricketers. England could miss out on directly qualifying for the ODI World Cup 2027. Lastly, there is a match-fixing scandal in the UPT20.

Team India have started their preparations for the Asia Cup. The entire team and support staff arrived at the ICC Academy in Dubai for their first practice. Interestingly, Team India wasn’t sporting the Dream11 logo. This confirms that BCCI have ended their partnership with their lead sponsor.

Kohli fitness test

Virat Kohli, undergoing a fitness test in London, could be a big moment for Indian cricketers. According to Akash Chopra, if Kohli indeed did so, it could mean that going forward all centrally contracted cricketers will be allowed to undergo fitness assessments anywhere instead of when BCCI wants them to.

Yograj

Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh, has claimed to have no friends in Indian cricket. He said players like Virat Kohli weren’t his son’s friend. Asked why? He said everyone, barring Sachin Tendulkar, was a backstabber. All of them, including MS Dhoni, feared that Yuvraj would take their chair.

World Cup 2027 automatic qualification

England might be in big trouble. After losing the second ODI against South Africa, the Three Lions are currently ranked 8th when it comes to qualification for the ICC World Cup 2027. Since only the top 8 qualify, if England falls out, they might have to qualify for the tournament, which they won in 2019.

Aakash Chopra has taken MS Dhoni’s side after the former India captain got criticised due to old comments Irfan Pathan made about him. Aakash stated that captains have seen more of some players and therefore trust them more, but that doesn’t mean they are biased.

match fixing

UPT20 has been rocked by a match-fixing scandal. Kashi Rudra’s team manager, Arjun Chauhan, was approached by a bookie who offered him INR 1 crore to fix matches and promised him an INR 50 lakh commission. Chauhan saw the message and approached the BCCI’s ACU immediately.
