DRS, Oct 28: Karun Nair on Test snub, BCCI tries to end Shami-Agarkar tiff & Shreyas Iyer health update
We have two unfortunate health updates regarding Shreyas Iyer and Pratika Rawal. After the unfortunate incident in Indore, security for the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup has increased. Karun Nair isn’t impressed with the selectors. BCCI is trying to deal with Mohammed Shami’s displeasure. Suryakumar Yadav’s dry run doesn’t concern Gautam Gambhir.

Shreyas Iyer was in ICU
In a shocking turn of events, it has come to light that Shreyas Iyer has been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) since September 25. It turned out that Shreyas had a laceration in his spleen, which led to internal bleeding and infection. He’s recovering well now, and BCCI is expected to arrange for his family to travel to Sydney to be with him.

Shafali Verma replaces Pratika Rawal
Although unfortunate, the expected has happened. Indian opener Pratika Rawal has been ruled out of the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup. Having sustained an ankle and knee injury on October 26 against Bangladesh, Pratika won’t be able to take further part in the tournament. BCCI has announced Shafali Verma as her replacement before the semifinal.

Karun Nair miffed
Karun Nair has once again spoken about getting dropped from India’s Test team. Nair, who averaged just 25.62 in England, was dropped for the West Indies Test series at home. He stated that he ‘deserved to be in the team‘ after putting in solid performances for 2 years in domestic cricket.

BCCI try to control Shami
Amid the ongoing public tiff between Mohammed Shami and Ajit Agarkar, the BCCI has sent newly appointed selector and former India cricketer RP Singh to Bengal. Shami had been refuting Agarkar’s claims about his fitness not being up to the international standards amid his omission from India’s team since March. Read more about it here.

Gambhir backs Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav hasn’t been in great touch. Since becoming India’s permanent T20I captain, he averages just 18.33. This year, it’s been just 11.11. But head coach Gautam Gambhir has brushed any potential aside. He says Surya has been struggling due to India’s high-intent style of play, which leads to more failure.
