DRS, Oct 7: Bumrah workload explained, ICC thrashed for IND vs PAK ‘fixing’ & Jaiswal next India captain?
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli might have bad news on their way. Mohammed Siraj has explained why Jasprit Bumrah was rested for two Test matches in England. Yashasvi Jaiswal has shared his desire to lead India. Mithali Raj will be honoured for her services. ICC has been accused of ‘fixing matches’ between India and Pakistan. Lastly, we have a Rishabh Pant injury update.

Pant to play Ranji Trophy
Rishabh Pant hasn’t completely recovered from his foot injury. The Indian Test vice-captain hasn’t played since late July and will most likely make a return to competitive cricket in late October. Pant is expected to play the Ranji Trophy for Delhi before the India vs South Africa series, which starts on November 14.

Why Bumrah needs workload management
Mohammed Siraj has explained why Jasprit Bumrah missed two matches during the England Test tour. Siraj stated that Bumrah was coming from a surgery and had he played, it might have been his last match for India. He only pointed out that Bumrah’s action isn’t like anyone else’s, and resting was the ‘perfect decision’.

Rohit-Kohli on their way out?
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar thinks that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should be ready for ‘bad news’. BCCI’s decision to remove Rohit indicates that they aren’t 100% certain about them playing in the 2027 ODI World Cup. Therefore, Gavaskar thinks they should be prepared for tough calls that might be taken.

ICC accused of ‘fixing’
In the aftermath of the Asia Cup debacle, former England captain Michael Atherton has urged the ICC to stop ‘fixing draws’ at their events so that India and Pakistan play against each other. After cricket turned into political propaganda in Dubai, Atherton wants the ICC to prepare fair draws from 2028 onwards.

Jaiswal for India captaincy?
Yashasvi Jaiswal has expressed a desire to become India’s captain one day. The opener shared how he wishes to improve his fitness and skills at the moment. But in the larger scheme of things, Jaiswal wants to evolve himself into a leader and then an Indian captain.

Mithali Raj to be honoured
In August, while talking to Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh, Smriti Mandhana had expressed the desire that Mithali Raj be recognised for her service to Indian cricket. Just 2 months later, the Andhra Cricket Association announced that a stand at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam will be named after Mithali Raj.
