Sam Curran reason behind stalled trade talks between RR & CSK for Sanju Samson-Ravindra Jadeja
The trade deal between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings for Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson is yet to be completed, although both franchises have shown Expression of Interest. The reason is Sam Curran. As per reports, RR asked the England all-rounder to be a part of the deal along with Jadeja and here’s where RR are stuck at this point of time when it comes to the trade deal.
Why RR aren’t able to finalize trade deal with CSK
As per Cricbuzz, RR’s quota of overseas player is full at the moment, and hence the trade deal with CSK involving Curran hasn’t been finalized. RR will have to release at least one foreign player in order to make room for the England star in their squad. Jofra Archer, Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Kwena Maphaka, Nandre Burger, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius are the overseas players who are presently in the RR squad.
The report states that RR are in a delicate position at the moment, with just Rs 30 lakh in their purse. Meanwhile, Curran was bought by CSK for Rs 2.4 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Therefore, RR would have to release at least one of their foreign players in order to acquire the services of Curran. Earlier, reports had claimed that RR wanted to let go of the Sri Lankan duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshan – both who were bought at the mega auction but had underperformed
The trade deal involving Sanju Samson and Jadeja is pretty much straightforward. Both players are worth Rs 18 crore. However, it is RR’s demand for an additional player to be added to the deal which is delaying the move. As per Cricbuzz, neither RR or CSK have informed the BCCI yet about the trade despite raising an Expression of Interest (EOI).
