DRS, Dec 3: BCCI tries to stop Kohli vs Gambhir, Maxwell picks PSL over IPL & Sarfaraz Khan back in form

The registered players list for the IPL 2026 auction has been revealed, and there are some surprising misses. BCCI will unveil the T20I squad and India’s new jersey on November 3. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play domestic cricket again. The board’s also trying to resolve some issues inside the Indian dressing room.

Rohit-Kohli to play domestic cricket

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy. It was previously reported that Kohli wasn’t keen to make a domestic comeback. However, it turns out that BCCI convinced the veteran batter. The DDCA has confirmed that Kohli has made himself available for the List A tournament.

Glenn Maxwell, Moeen Ali skip IPL auction

1355 players have registered for the IPL 2026 auction. With just 77 slots to fill, the competition will be cutthroat. 45 players who have listed themselves at the maximum price of INR 2 crore. Among the big names missing from the list are Glenn Maxwell and Moeen Ali. Both have picked PSL over IPL.

India’s T20I squad

BCCI is expected to announce India’s squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa on November 3, the day of the Ranchi ODI. There’s doubt over Shubman Gill’s selection; if he isn’t fit, Yashasvi Jaiswal might return to the T20I team. Riyan Parag might come back as well.

Fight between Kohli & Gambhir

BCCI has sent national selector Pragyan Ojha to Raipur, the venue for the India vs South Africa 2nd ODI, to mitigate issues between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. It’s learnt that the former India captain isn’t on great terms with the head coach.  In a viral clip, Ojha was in conversation with Kohli.

India’s T20 World Cup jersey

Team India will unveil their jersey for the 2026 T20 World Cup during the innings break of the India vs South Africa 2nd ODI in Raipur on November 3. Drawn with Pakistan, the Netherlands, Namibia, and the USA in Group A, India will commence their title defence on February 8 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

SMAT summary

Sarfaraz Khan has scored his first competitive hundred in over a year against Assam. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become the youngest centurion in SMAT history and also has the most hundreds in T20s for Indians in 2025. Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma extended their golden touch, while Venkatesh Iyer and Sai Sudharsan continue to struggle.
