DRS December 24: No Bumrah in VHT, new DC captain and cyclone threat to T20 World Cup
The stage is all set for Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26, with several stars like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul among others set to take part in the domestic 50-over tournament. However, Jasprit Bumrah won’t be a part of it. India women’s cricket team picked up another win as they demolished Sri Lanka women in the 2nd T20I. On the other side of the world, Australia have been handed a blow as they will be without the services of Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins for the remainder of the Ashes. No Bumrah in VHT
Jasprit Bumrah will not be taking part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26 which commences from December 24. Gujarat Cricket Association secretary confirmed that Bumrah will not be playing in Vijay Hazare Trophy as he will be taking rest. Gujarat will kick-start their VHT 2025/26 campaign by taking on Services at the KSCA Cricket Ground 2 in Alur on Wednesday. Read more here.

Boost for women’s cricket
The BCCI has finally done what should have happened years ago. In a massive move, the BCCI has approved a sharp hike in match fees for women domestic cricketers, bringing their earnings almost on par with their male counterparts in India’s domestic circuit. Jemimah Rodrigues named DC captain
Delhi Captials have named India women’s cricket team star Jemimah Rodrigues as the new captain ahead of Womens Prermier League (WPL 2026). The batter will replace Meg Lanning, who was released earlier this year ahead of the WPL 2026 mega auction. Rodrigues was DC’s top retention at Rs 2.2 crore and will now lead the team in a bid to guide them to their maiden WPL title. Read more here.
