Pakistan boycott, ICC statement

Pakistan will participate in the T20 World Cup but will boycott the India match. The Pakistani government informed the public about the decision without explaining the reasoning behind it. The ICC released a statement in response, where it issued an indirect threat to the PCB and urged the board to ‘explore a mutually acceptable resolution’.

Suryakumar Yadav provides injury updates

Suryakumar Yadav has provided essential injury updates relating to Washington Sundar and Tilak Varma. The Indian T20I captain confirmed the reports suggesting Tilak was fit. Meanwhile, the situation regarding Sundar’s recovery isn’t as direct. Suryakumar revealed that Sundar has started to practice, but didn’t confirm his availability for India’s T20 World Cup opener.

Handshake, rule break, India vs Pakistan U19

The India vs Pakistan match in the Under-19 ODI World Cup started with no handshakes. It ended with Pakistan making baffling choices while chasing, and India qualifying for the semifinals. In between all of this, Pakistan’s mentor, Sarfaraz Ahmed, was accused of violating the ICC’s anti-corruption rules on social media.

Bangladesh new tournament

BCB will conduct a short 3-team domestic T20 tournament starting February 5 in the aftermath of Bangladesh’s removal from the T20 World Cup. Considering players won’t be earning anything in match fees from the ICC, the BCB will pay them INR 1.86 crore through the domestic tournament.

The Ranji Trophy quarterfinals are set. Karnataka emerged as the major talking point after Devdutt Padikkal smashed an unbeaten 120 from 85 balls against Punjab in what was his debut match as captain. Karnataka chased down 250 in just 27.5 overs to move past Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh on the points table and seal the second spot in Group B.
