Sanju Samson earned himself the ‘player of the tournament’ award after an 89-run knock in the final. The keeper went past Virat Kohli’s 319-run record and became just the third player to register 3 fifty+ scores in the T20 World Cup. After the match, he credited conversations with Sachin Tendulkar for his rise in the last couple of years.

Abhishek Sharma comes good finally

Abhishek Sharma repaid the faith shown by the management in the final, smashing the fastest fifty of the T20 World Cup 2026. His 52-run knock saw India post the highest powerplay score in the tournament’s history. It also set the stage for the Men in Blue to break the record for the highest total in a T20 World Cup final by a whopping 79 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah – India’s national treasure

After Jasprit Bumrah claimed the best-ever figures by a fast bowler in a T20 World Cup final and ended as the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav called him a national treasure. After India won the 2024 T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli had said the exact same thing about Bumrah.

Arshdeep apologised to the batter during the game and after it as well.

IPL 2026 schedule update

The Star Sports schedule for March 8 hinted at the IPL 2026 schedule coming out in the evening. But it never happened. Instead, the broadcast confirmed the starting date of the tournament as March 28. However, it’s expected that the official announcement, which has been delayed due to state elections in 5 states, will be out on March 9.
