Sony Announces Major Price Hike for PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal

Sony has officially announced a new round of price hikes for several of its gaming-related products, including the PlayStation 5, the upcoming PS5 Pro, and the PlayStation Portal. As of April 2, 2026, all major regions of the world will see these price hikes. Gamers may be surprised that these price increases have been announced after so many years since the PS5 was first launched, and that these prices usually decrease instead of increase.

Price Price Hike Update and Rollout Schedule

Sony has announced that these new prices will be rolled out starting in Week 2 of April 2026, giving retailers a small window of time to update their inventory. These new prices will be rolled out simultaneously in all official PlayStation stores. Therefore, it is recommended that those who wish to receive a new console in the near future should do so before this date, so they do not have to pay the new, higher price.
