DRS May 27: RCB reach final, BCCI to move IPL to September-October, Arshdeep Singh to leave PBKS?

Royal Challengers Bengaluru scripted history on Tuesday as they thrashed GT by 92 runs to reach their second consecutive IPL final after posting the highest total in an IPL playoff game. RCB posted a mammoth total of 254/5, thanks to Rajat Patidar’s 93-run whirlwind knock. GT were completely outclassed by the RCB bowlers in the run-chase, and will now play Qualifier 2. Meanwhile, the BCCI could consider moving the IPL to a new window owing to heat and fatigue. In other news, Afghanistan has announced squads for the series against India. Rajat Patidar helps RCB script history

RCB scripted history by amassing the most runs by a side in an IPL playoff game, thanks to skipper Rajat Patidar. The batter stayed unbeaten on 93 runs at the end of 20 overs to guide RCB to 254 runs at the end of the innings in the Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Tuesday. Powered by a 93-run knock by Patidar and a quickfire 43-run knock by Krunal Pandya, RCB reached 254/5 at the end of 20 overs, setting a mammoth target for GT. Read more here.

IPL to be moved?

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal has addressed the possibility of the league taking part in the latter half of the year in the future, instead of taking place between March and May. Traditionally, the tournament has taken place between the two aforementioned months since its inception. However, with the IPL governing council planning to increase the number of games from 2028 onwards, a question has been posed to the BCCI as to whether it would be better if the tournament is held in a different window. Arshdeep Singh to leave PBKS?

PBKS yet again failed to get their hands on their maiden IPL title, but their star pacer Arshdeep Singh is back in the news following his recent activities on social media. It is being learned that the cricketer has removed over 200 posts from his Instagram profile and now has only 44 of them visible, majority of them catering to brand endorsements and promotional collaborations. Moreover, there remains no statement from the 27-year-old, even his IPL franchise has remained tight-lipped. Read more here.

Afghanistan squads for India series

Afghanistan cricket team have announced the squads for the one-off Test and the three-match ODI series against India. The sides for both series will be led by Hashmatullah Shahidi. Rashid Khan, who one of AFG’s most experienced player, will not be a part of one-off Test against India. Instead, he will be part of the three-match ODI series. Check out the squads here.

Rabada wreaks havoc

Kagiso Rabada not only got hold of the purple cap with 26* wickets, but also became the highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL, in the powerplays. No bowler had taken 18 wickets in the first six overs, in a season ever. The previous record was held by Shami for GT, where he bagged 17 in the six-over mark. Vijay Shankar to play LPL 2026

Just days after announcing his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) and domestic cricket, Vijay Shankar has signed up with the Kandy Royals and will take part in the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2026). The tournament itself is scheduled to run from July 17 to August 8. Shankar, a former Tamil Nadu all-rounder who moved to Tripura in 2025, has played 12 ODIs and 9 T20Is for India since making his debut in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Read more here.
