DRS, May 3: BCCI won’t remove impact rule from IPL & DC pacer punished for Sooryavanshi send-off
The BCCI gave an update on the impact rule and IPL 2026 playoffs schedule during the announcement of India’s squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. One foreign player joins LSG, while another one leaves. A DC fast bowler has been punished for celebrating too much. Lastly, has Ravindra Jadeja made a mistake by copying MS Dhoni’s methods?

No clue about IPL 2026 Final venue
The BCCI is expected to announce the IPL 2026 playoffs schedule by May 4. The schedule for the tournament was announced in two legs, but the venue and date for the knockout matches weren’t revealed. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has remained silent on the venue for the IPL 2026 final, despite reports suggesting that the reigning champions will host the game.

India’s Women’s T20 World Cup quad
BCCI has announced India’s squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. All-rounders Amanjot Kaur, Kashvee Gautam, and Pooja Vastrakar are all ruled out with injuries. Nandini Sharma, who’s yet to make her India or T20I debut, has been named as well. Yastika Bhatia, who hasn’t played a T20I since April 2024, also returns.

Impact sub rule going nowhere
Saikia also revealed that no IPL franchise has officially contacted the BCCI regarding the removal of the impact substitution player rule. He revealed that the board has discussed whether the rule is required in the league for the last 2 years and confirmed that they’ll review it again after the 2026 season.

Jadeja’s Dhoni antics hurting RR?
Ravichandran Ashwin believes Ravindra Jadeja has adopted MS Dhoni’s method of taking the game deep, and sometimes the team he plays with, Team India or any IPL franchise, suffers because of it. Ashwin stated that Jadeja doesn’t attack the spinners and prefers to take down fast bowlers in the death.

LSG player returns home
Josh Inglis has finally joined LSG. The Australian wicketkeeper had already informed us that he’ll be available in IPL 2026 after a month due to his wedding. For this reason, PBKS had released Inglis. He joins LSG with 6 league games left. However, South African batter Matthew Breetzke has left the team due to personal reasons.

BCCI punish DC pacer
DC fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has received a warning and one demerit point for excessive celebration. The New Zealand quick had given a send-off to RR opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after the teenager hit him for a four and was subsequently bowled by Jamieson. The Kiwi pacer won’t contest the sanction.
