Mumbai Indians sack Hardik Pandya?
Hardik Pandya’s stint as Mumbai Indians captain is likely over. Traded from GT in 2024 after 2 successful years there, his MI reign flopped. IPL 2026 was the awful with 4 wins in 14 games, finishing 9th on the table. MI are now planning an overhaul and as per reports, they’ll remove him as captain, with his spot as player also under review. Issues went beyond results. Coaching staff felt seniors, including Hardik, ignored data-backed plans and weren’t “coachable”. Since 2024 MI have 27 losses in 44 games, most in IPL. Hardik hasn’t hit a fifty for MI and his 147.8 SR ranks 50th among 200+ ball batters. Read more here.

Pant quits LSG captaincy
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have relieved Rishabh Pant of captaincy following two underwhelming seasons. Pant requested to step down, a request the franchise accepted. Purchased for INR 27 crore in the IPL 2025 auction after his release by Delhi Capitals, Pant recorded 269 runs in 2025 and 312 in 2026. LSG finished 7th in 2025 and bottom of the table in 2026 with four wins from 14 matches. Rohit Sharma to decide new MI captain?
Mumbai Indians are likely seeking a new captain for IPL 2027 if Hardik Pandya departs after three underwhelming seasons. The franchise will not return to Rohit Sharma as captain, but his approval is expected to be decisive given the reported dressing-room divisions. BCCI restricts smart glasses in IPL
The BCCI has doubled down on security. Days after IPL chairman Arun Dhumal called it a “very clean tournament” with no honey-trapping issues, the ACSU sent a new advisory banning smart glasses, sunglasses and goggles with comms/recording tech. Why? Companies are pitching players smart eyewear that can livestream, text, call, and connect via Wi-Fi. BCCI now classifies them as “Audio/Video Recording” + “Communication” devices under PMOA rules. Players/staff must hand them over to Security Liaison Officers before entering restricted zones, same as phones and smartwatches. Break the rule and face disciplinary action. Read more here.

Mental stress for Pandya?
More news on Hardik Pandya. As Per PTI, he’s told the franchise he wants out. Mentally stressed, exhausted, and nursing a back spasm that made him miss games, he informed decision-makers he won’t stay once playoffs were gone in IPL 2026. His captaincy record was 15 wins, 24 losses in 39 games, 38.46% win rate. The reports says the MI dressing room changed after 2024.
