Hardik Pandya injury update

Mumbai Indians received a boost as Hardik Pandya joined the squad in Raipur on Thursday evening ahead of Sunday’s IPL 2026 match against RCB. He had missed the previous game against Lucknow Super Giants due to a back spasm suffered during the CSK match. Pandya skipped travel with the first batch of players, that began chatter about his fitness issues. He was advised a week of rest and reportedly visited the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru as a precaution. However, he has joined the team in Raipur. Read more here.

BCCI only wants high-scoring IPL matches

IPL 2026 has become the most batter-friendly season in history, with a record run rate of 9.68 and strike rate of 155.21. Eight of the top 14 highest run chases have come this year, and 41 totals over 200 have been scored in 49 games. This is because of BCCI’s intervention. The board now dictates pitch behavior, removing home advantage. Curators must ensure minimal help for bowlers, uniform grass cover, no dry surfaces, little spin or seam movement, and boundaries capped at 77m. A BCCI curator is present at every venue, and the central team will control playoff pitches. All these are reports confirmed by TOI. Read more here.

Suryakumar Yadav blessed with baby girl

Suryakumar Yadav and his wife Devisha Shetty welcomed a baby girl on May 7. As a result, the Mumbai Indians batter is likely to miss the May 10 match against RCB in Raipur and has not travelled with the team. The news comes during a tough IPL 2026 for Suryakumar, who has scored only 195 runs in 10 matches at an average of 19 and a strike rate of 145. Mumbai Indians are struggling in ninth place with just three wins and still have an outside chance at the playoff. Read more here.

BCCI on IPL 2026 final venue

The BCCI has explained why the IPL 2026 final was shifted from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad, despite tradition giving hosting rights to the defending champions. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said the Karnataka State Cricket Association exceeded its 15 percent complimentary ticket quota of 5,070 for RCB home games at the 33,800 capacity M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. KSCA demanded an extra 10,000 tickets, including 700 for MLAs, MLCs and government officials, far beyond protocol. After receiving this request on May 2, the BCCI awarded the final to the Gujarat Cricket Association at Narendra Modi Stadium instead. The board said it only provides 15 percent of seating as complimentary tickets to host associations. Read more here.

New England selector

North, 46, played 21 Tests for Australia and two Ashes series and has featured for six English counties. He has been Durham’s director of cricket since 2018, working with Ben Stokes, Mark Wood, Brydon Carse and Matthew Potts. He beat around 80 applicants, including Steven Finn and Darren Gough. North replaces Luke Wright, who stepped down after the 4-1 Ashes loss. He will lead scouting, work with counties, and collaborate with Brendon McCullum, Rob Key, Stokes and Harry Brook. PAK vs AUS series announced

The PCB has confirmed a three-match ODI series against Australia from May 30 to June 4 in Rawalpindi and Lahore. The tour clashes with the IPL 2026 playoffs, which end on May 31. Several Australian stars, including Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, are expected to miss the series due to IPL commitments and workload management. Cricket Australia has assured franchises that players will finish the IPL before joining national duty. Players from teams knocked out early, like Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green, could arrive sooner. Read more here.
