ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026: One Indian among 4 nominated for Player of Tournament award

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is all set to come to an end on Sunday, with Australia Women’s cricket team taking on England in what will be a mouth-watering final. Ahead of the end of the 33-match long tournament, the nominees for the Player of the Tournament Award have been announced. The list includes two players from the finalists, and two from the semi-finalists who were knocked out which includes one Indian.

Player of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 award nominees revealed

First on the list of nominees for the Player of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 award is Australia’s Ellyse Perry. The star all-rounder has amassed 185 runs at an average of 46.25 from six matches and has also picked up 4 wickets. She is the leading run-getter for AUSW in the tournament so far and has won three Player of the Match awards.

Perry, an experienced campainger, is expected to play a crucial role in the final against England. She had an injur scare before the semi-final against India, but Australia are optimistic of her turning up for the final with no discomfort as she has been training at full tilt.

Second on the list, and the only Indian to feature, is Smriti Mandhana. The ever-consistent India Women’s team vice-captain was the leading run-getter for the Women in Blue. She amassed 205 runs from from five matches at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 140.41. Mandhana hit 30 fours in the course of the tournament, the second most after England’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge. Her scoes in the T20 WC were 68, 74, 17, 8 and 38.

Third on the list is none other than the leading run-getter of the T20 World Cup 2026 – Danni Wyatt-Hodge. The England opener has scored three fifty-plus scores, including an unbeaten 105-run knock, in 6 matches. Averaging 73.50 at a strike rate of 152.33, Hodge has done the heavy-lifting for the hosts in the tourney. She has scored the most number of fours in this tournament (41).

The final nominee for the Player of the Tournament award is South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp. Her contributions with the ball were crucial for the Proteas Women’s success in the group stage games. Kapp picked up 8 wickets from 6 matches, averaging 14.38. Kapp won the Player of the Match award in the game against India, where she picked up two wickets and played a match-winning 81 run knock.
