West Indies international Devon Thomas handed a 5-year ban by ICC
West Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Devon Thomas has been banned from all forms of cricket for five years after admitting to breaching anti-corruption rules in multiple cricket leagues.
The 34-year-old, who played across all formats for the West Indies, last appeared for his national team in August 2022. Throughout his career spanning 1 Test, 21 ODIs, and 12 T20Is, Thomas received extensive anti-corruption education. According to the ICC, this makes his breaches even more serious.
“Devon attended numerous anti-corruption education sessions and knew his obligations under the Anti-Corruption Codes,” said Alex Marshall, ICC General Manager – Integrity Unit. “He failed to meet these obligations across three different franchise leagues. This ban should send a strong message that corruption within our sport will not be tolerated and will be dealt with firmly.“

The investigation revealed that Thomas’s violations encompassed several offenses. In Sri Lanka Premier League 2021, he was found guilty of attempting to fix matches and failing to report corrupt approaches. Additionally, he obstructed the anti-corruption investigation by concealing or tampering with documents and providing inaccurate information. Similar breaches occurred during his participation in the Abu Dhabi T10 League and Caribbean Premier League in 2021, where he again failed to report corrupt approaches.
