Pakistan nominates its first-ever female official as international umpire
In a historic first, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has nominated Saleema Imtiaz to the ICC International Panel of Development umpires. Imtiaz is the first Pakistani woman to be nominated to the panel. With this nomination, Saleema can now officiate women’s bilateral matches and ICC women’s events.
Pakistan nominate first-ever female umpire to ICC panel
Saleema commenced her journey as an umpire in 2008 when she was a part of the PCB’s women’s umpire panel. The highlights of her umpiring career include officiating matches in 2022 and 2024 Women’s Asia Cup and the ACC Emerging Women’s Cup in 2023. Saleema Imtiaz is the mother of Pakistan women’s team player Kainat Imtiaz.

Saleema Imtiaz will make her debut on the ICC panel in the T20I match against Pakistan and South Africa, which will begin on Monday. she dubbed her nomination to the panel as a big win for women cricketers in Pakistan and said that she hoped to see more women following her footsteps.
“I am beyond thrilled to join the ICC International Panel of Development Umpires. I owe immense gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board for the invaluable opportunities that paved the way for this achievement,” Saleema Imtiaz said, on being nominated to the panel.
